Not gonna lie, the outside looks sketch, but the food was fantastic. I wanted the Reuben but they were out of corned beef so the owner suggested the chicken salad. I normally don't get chicken salad, but she let me sample it and it was probably the best chicken salad I've ever had. On top of the awesome food, the owner and her daughter were so friendly. I'll definitely be back.
It is the cutest restaurant in Marietta. The food is made with love and served by really caring people. I will make this place my go-to lunch spot. It's a sandwich and salad place that is open till mid-afternoon. If you work at the hospital or an office nearby this place is the fastest and tastiest lunch spot. I personally had the BLT and it was awesome. Whoever makes the fruit in jello gave it the perfect combo. Don't forget the orange slices for your sweet tea
Sandwiches done right! I was out looking for a simple sandwich... Sliced bread, meat, cheese & Mayo. I found just that at The Lunch Basket..... Try the ruben, it was really good. The pimento cheese is delish.... We also ordered the turkey on a croissant. The chicken salad sandwich was suggested, so maybe I will try that one later this week. The restaurant is tucked off at the corner of a plaza, of you are not looking you will miss your turn ( on a oneway street) lol. Friendly atmosphere and quit busy after lunch hours. $7 ruben combo, came with the sandwich, chips, a beverage & a pickle.
I can't believe this place is going out of business (according to the Marietta Daily Journal). I haven't been in a while because I don't get over to Cherokee Street very often anymore. Over the years, I've dropped in a handful of times and while I found the food to be pretty average (as in it's good - but nothing extraordinary - just solid, basic sandwiches, made well), what I was most impressed with was the good value and amazing customer service. The staff is always pleasant and upbeat. I'll be sure to drop in for a goodbye lunch.
